PEI 14/10/2009
Almost one year ago, Jenny & I were in almost the exact same situation. Our time on PEI was winding down, and the thoughts of Cambodia were ever-present. Much has changed in one year though. Since Cambodia, I have ventured to PEI, Ottawa, Niagara Falls, NY, Virginia, NM, Windsor, Vegas, back to Ontario, and to PEI. Where the resources came from to do all this, I really don't know. The mathematics of my life rarely seem to make any sense at all. I pray I am obedient to God's leading, and trust He will provide. I wouldn't say to someone, "Go to the store and get me some food", without giving them the necessary resources to obtain it. I wouldn't expect them to pay for what I have sent them to get. I believe God in the same way. If I believe He's telling me to "Go", I believe He'll provide what is needed for the journey. And He has. Mathematics need not make sense in the Kingdom. If God suddenly says that 2+3=6, it would be true. It doesn't make any sense, but that doesn't make it any less true. God is making the rules, and it is foolish to question His plan, even when His plan appears foolish. We have been visiting lots of people on this Island trip. 3 weeks here is quite a stretch, but it has been good. My family has been very generous in seeing that we always have transportation, and lodging, and food, etc. I was back on drums this week at Faithworks Center, which was the first time I had been on the drums in a year and a half! The last time was way back at Hamilton Celebration Church, in the spring of last year. It was great fun. I get to play again Sunday evening. But there is much to pray about. Cambodia's door is not just open for us, it has been ripped off it's hinges! Our future there, should we accept it, seems limitless. Russia also has opened it's doors to us (it's Protestantism, not the actual country), and we wait for the right timing to enter southwestern Siberia for a time. Opportunities grow as we dedicate our lives to Jesus more completely. One more week in PEI. Today we had an opportunity to speak to the Grade 1 class at Southern Kings Consolidated School. I spent 8 yrs of my life at this school, and had a great time telling the kids about Cambodia. We also have a highly anticipated Yard Sale this Saturday which we'd like to raise lots of money for our trip from. Things are good. So good that it would be wise to reflect on the poor of this world even more. We should constantly guard ourselves against the bubble we retreat into when our security reaches unhealthy levels in regard to our relationship with God. Security can be one of the most damaging things to our spirituality. 1 Comment the Uglydolls rule the world 27/09/2008
F.A.O Schwarz has a line of plushies called 'Uglydolls' and they are awesome. I noticed them when Jenny & I were cruisin through Caesars Palace in Vegas and fell instantly in love with them. Although I am in no position to buy all these wonderful creatures for my little nephew Brennan, I still think of them often. again on PEI 24/09/2008
Yes, we are back on PEI. We have been here since late sunday night and if things go according to plan, then we will headed to Cambodia in 3 weeks or so. As expected, not much has changed on the Island since May. Mom is having a reception/potluck/benefit for us on friday evening, so that should be fun. |
