New Years Day by U2

Picture this: year 2000, January 1st/New Yrs Day, Netherlands, Amsterdam, The Bulldog, me sitting on a bar stool ravin to the Austrian bartender Astrid.
And, yes, she was playin this song. That was a big moment for me, experiencing the day after one of the largest nights I have ever been a part of. Amsterdam was literally back-to-back with people. It was intense. The intensity of the night gave way to a very calm, quiet morning. Most of the party0goers were still fast asleep, while I was relaxing at the coffeeshop, pondering what was to become of my future. I sure didn't anticipate the next decade!

Me and Bobby McGee (Janis Joplin)

In high school, I spent a lot of time being................. unproductive. But, I always had friends who I could be unproductive with! Two friends I hung out with a lot were David McGuigan (who lived at my house much of our high school days) and Travis Clarey (my cousin). We spent much time hangin out, promoting peace, and listening to music. While I tended to be more interested in heavier genres, Travis and Dave were much more diverse in their musical interests. Janis Joplin was a major influence on them, and even though I was not a big fan, I listened to her more than many other other artists. It stands today that whenever I hear Janis I remember the good times I had with two of my besties. This one's for you guys: Travis and Dave!

Nutshell (Alice In Chains)

This song makes me sad for a couple of reasons:
1) Because there is little actual music with any depth these days. The Seattle grunge scene really sparked something in my generation at the time, and it gave us a voice we really didn't have previously. It is hard to explain.
2) The deterioration and death of Layne Staley. Read about it -->HERE<--
:(

That's Not My Name (The Ting Tings)

I first heard this song while working ridiculously early morning shifts at Zellers. For some reason it always put me in a good mood.

Who Let The Dogs Out (Baha Men)

It's hard to pick your LEAST favorite song of all time, and I've wasted a good 30 min trying to pick one out of my memory, but wikipedia helped make it happen! No, it isn't Lady Gaga, surprisingly, it's the Baha Men. Although this may not be my definitive least favorite song ever, this song flat out sucks.

Push The Envelope (The Asteroids Galaxy Tour)

It is way too hard to think of 1 song that would make it to the top of a 'favorite song' list, so I'll share the one that I seem to be drawn to the most recently. I first seen The Asteroids Galaxy Tour in the new Heineken commercial. Good times.
