I was just going through the Iris Ministries website gallery and found this amazing picture of Heidi preaching on a bush outreach. The caption of this pic is: Enacting the parable of the good Samaritan, Heidi here teaching about the man who had been attacked by robbers.
I've been on this kind of outreach many times and they are some of my mostest favoritest times ever! It sure will be good to get back to the foreign field.
The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37 nasb)
And a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"
And He said to him, "What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?"
And he answered, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."
And He said to him, "You have answered correctly; DO THIS AND YOU WILL LIVE."
But wishing to justify himself, he said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"
Jesus replied and said, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead."And by chance a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side."Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side."But a Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion, and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him."On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.'"Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers' hands?"
And he said, "The one who showed mercy toward him."
Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do the same."
F.A.O Schwarz has a line of plushies called 'Uglydolls' and they are awesome. I noticed them when Jenny & I were cruisin through Caesars Palace in Vegas and fell instantly in love with them. Although I am in no position to buy all these wonderful creatures for my little nephew Brennan, I still think of them often.
Jenny & I are still on PEI and will be here until we head overseas. Today I was in to Burger King on University Ave and scheduled a car wash fundraiser for next saturday! Sweet. My lofty goal is: $500. It's high, let's see if it can happen. Everyone who reads this can help us, by coming over and getting your car washed!
Lately, its all been about Cambodia, whether it's checking up on the news, reading information, praying, whatever. We have comitted ourselves to this nation and want to get there as soon as possible.
And a big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to Jenny & I's reception that Mom organized! It was a great time and it was great to see some people who I've not seen in a while.
Yes, we are back on PEI. We have been here since late sunday night and if things go according to plan, then we will headed to Cambodia in 3 weeks or so. As expected, not much has changed on the Island since May. Mom is having a reception/potluck/benefit for us on friday evening, so that should be fun.
Lately, Jenny has been devouring the Book of Acts, and I have been listening to a lot of Mark Driscoll (the pastor of Mars Hill Church in Seattle). Good times. I encourage everyone to read Acts and listen to a sermon or two from Driscoll. I leave you with a very poignant cartoon below by Urban Sereno Abell.
A good friend sent out this video on Facebook and I would feel terrible if I did not share it with you all. It is on the child prostitution business in Cambodia, and it is quite shocking. We have no idea what most of the world is suffering through. Jenny & I hope to end some of this when we go to Cambodia later this year.I'm sorry that my first post to this new website cannot be a bit more "feel good", yet here it is.
